REBEL SALUTE 2024 - ReviewAnnual Music Festival, typically held in Plantation Cove, Jamaica
Dates: January 19 & 20, 2024 |
Plantation Cove, St. Ann, Jamaica | Headed to the hills
Rebel Salute 2024 delivered exactly what it’s known for—pure roots, culture, and conscious reggae under the Jamaican night sky. Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the festival brought together a powerful lineup of legends and rising stars, carrying the vibe straight through to sunrise.
One of my personal highlights? Queen Ifrica—a reggae favorite of mine. I was already excited to see her perform, but then realized my friend Lance was playing bass guitar in her band, which made the moment even more surreal. And just as she got into her set… the sky opened up.
I’m talking full-on cats and dogs rain.
Within seconds, it was absolute chaos—people running in every direction trying to find cover. It was wild, unexpected, and honestly… kind of unforgettable. CRAZY, but in that “only in Jamaica” kind of way that somehow adds to the story.
Beyond moments like that, the festival stayed true to its roots. No alcohol, ital food only, and a focus on uplifting, conscious music—it’s not just a concert, it’s a movement. Even with a few hiccups, the energy and authenticity never missed a beat.
