π ❤️π JUST CALL ME
ONE LOVE
Sometimes you go
out for a little music and a change of scenery.
And sometimes you
walk away carrying a conversation with a complete stranger that stays with you
long after the music stops.
This was one of
those nights.
It started as a pretty normal Thursday night — reggae, friends and good vibes in downtown Sarasota.
But somewhere
along the way, I found myself in a conversation with a complete stranger who
was asking for advice and my honest opinion.
We chatted, and I
introduced myself.
“ I’m Michelle.”
About ten minutes
later, they asked my name again.
I smiled and
said:
“Okay...
just call me One Love. You'll remember that.”
And somehow, in
that moment, the conversation shifted.
There was one of those rare moments where two people look at each other and you can tell there is an actual thought happening — not just small talk. A pause. A connection. A little bit of “I think we both understand what we're talking about here.”
Then came the
question:
“What
does that mean?”
To me, One
Love means a lot of things.
But at its heart,
it means COMPASSION. It means HOPE. And it for sure means UNITY.
It means choosing love over division. It means remembering that beneath our
different backgrounds, beliefs, cultures, politics, races, religions and life
experiences, we're still human beings sharing this little planet together.
“One Love, One Heart”
One
Love for all.
Not agreeing on
everything.
Not pretending
differences don't exist.
Just choosing to
see the human being standing in front of you.
The response
surprised me.
“I
love that. I'll never forget it.”
They told me they
would carry it with them — that it felt like their own little “sign” to share
and spread love.
And then came the
part that made me smile.
This wasn't
someone from Sarasota. They were
well-spoken, well-traveled and from the Middle East. They had lived in several
cities across the United States, traveled extensively, and had simply fallen in
love with Sarasota. They were curious about what there was to do on a Thursday
evening in the big city of Sarasota.
They wanted the
local scoop.
The Sarasota secrets.
The places a visitor might not find by simply searching Google.
I smiled and
said, “You're looking at it.”
Because sometimes
the best thing to do on a Thursday night isn't a landmark or a tourist
attraction. Sometimes it's finding that little pocket of island culture right
in the middle of downtown — the music, the people, the dancing, the laughter,
the rhythm and that feeling that, for a few hours, everyone in the room is
connected by the same beat.
A little piece of
Jamaica.
A
little piece of the Caribbean.
A little piece of
One Love.
And this little
cultural gem in the heart of downtown Sarasota delivers it every Thursday
night.
I feel blessed.
