Travel has been one of the great loves of my life.
I've been fortunate enough to see beautiful places, experience different cultures, meet fascinating people and collect memories that never quite fit into a photograph.
Some trips have been luxurious. Some have been adventurous. Some have been complicated. And some have changed me in ways I didn't expect.
Jamaica has been one of those places for me.
There is something about Jamaica that gets under your skin and into your soul. Maybe it's the music, the food, the culture, the colors, the rhythm of everyday life — or simply the people and the way they can make you stop, smile and see things a little differently.
My years of traveling to Jamaica have given me a deeper appreciation for life in all of its beautiful, messy, unexpected glory. The twists and turns. The detours. The people who cross our paths. The moments that don't go according to plan but somehow become the moments we remember most.
It has reminded me to dig a little deeper, slow down, appreciate where I am and be grateful for the people in my life who make me laugh, make me smile and make the journey worthwhile.
Perhaps that's what travel has given me more than anything else — not just memories of the places I've been, but a greater appreciation for the life I'm living.
And sometimes, we travel halfway around the world only to discover something about ourselves that was there all along.
